Thursday, November 12 - Pre-Conference Seminars

Ordinary Moments, Extraordinary Marriages
Winston Smith

People often want to see dramatic change happen in their marriage and want it to happen quickly. The pathway to change isn’t made up of dramatic moments but ordinary moments in which we begin to see and understand God’s calling and work in our lives. This pre-conference will help you identify opportunities for change in the ordinary moments of marriage. We will explore how to help people understand marriage in a way that allows them to see the relevancy of God, create a love that is practical in the ordinary moments, and be consistent over the long haul.

2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Implementing a Pastoral Care/Counseling Ministry into the Local Church
Tim Lane

CCEF’s mission is two-fold: to restore Christ to counseling and counseling to the church. This pre-conference will focus on the second half of our mission. What does it look like to implement a pastoral care/counseling ministry within the local church? How can the church both instill a culture of care as well as a meaningful structure for care? This pre-conference will lay a foundation for a robust understanding of ministry of the Word that includes but moves beyond the pulpit to everyday life. It will also lay a foundation for instituting a structure for addressing the more difficult, complex problems that people in your church face. Several models of care will be presented by church leaders who are actually doing this work. There will also be an opportunity to gather together and establish networks of communication so that ideas from this workshop can be shared after the conference.  Additional speakers: Mike Wilkerson, Mars Hill Church—Seattle, Washington; Judy Cha, Redeemer Presbyterian Church—New York City; Greg Norfleet, Christ Community Church—Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Bill Smith, Chelten Baptist Church—Dresher, Pennsylvania.

9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Como Cambia La Gente
Lois Kehlenbrink

The pre-conference seminars can be attended on their own, together or you can combine it with the conference and take advantage of a discount rate. Please click here for details.
