Admission

CCEF's Certificate in Biblical Counseling program welcomes any applicant who desires course work designed to enhance his or her practice of biblical counseling. CCEF does not discriminate with regard to an applicant's gender, race, national or religious background. CCEF programs are not necessarily designed to meet state requirements of psychologists, marriage and family therapists, guidance counselors, or other licensing or certifying groups. However, course work and experience at CCEF may be applied to certain licensing agencies at their discretion. CCEF's Certificate of Biblical Counseling Program does not result in a degree. However, credit for CCEF courses has been given at numerous colleges and seminaries at their discretion. You may submit an application by clicking here. or request an application form from our Glenside office by calling 215-884-7676.

Registration

You may register for our classes by mail, fax, phone or email. Returning students may also register and view a course list/tuition fees by clicking here. New students, please click here.

Tuition & Registration

Tuition is due one week prior to the first class. Payments made after this will be charged an additional fee of $25.00. Three hour courses cost $480 for credit, $240 to audit. Two hour courses cost $320 for credit, $160 to audit

Auditing

Students may take any of our classes except the Observation and Essential Qualities courses as an auditing student. You pay half the tuition and are not to submit any papers for grading or take any exams. In addition, you need to follow the tuition guidelines stated above.

If you desire to take for credit a class you have previously audited, you may do so and only pay the additional tuition if you retake the class in the consecutive year. If the course is not retaken in a consecutive year then the student would be required to pay the full tuition cost.

If you desire to switch to audit in a course you are currently enrolled in for credit you may do so and request a tuition reimbursement prior to the fourth class. Any requests made after the fourth week of class will be granted but without any tuition reimbursement except for extenuating circumstances.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

We do not offer scholarships or financial aid at this time. We are a non-profit foundation and are not eligible for grants or student aid. However, through our supporting church program, those in pastoral ministry may be eligible for free tuition based on the church's level of support. In addition, many churches send their counseling lay leaders to CCEF for training and we suggest you seek support from your local church if you need help with tuition costs.

Dropping Classes and Incompletes

In the event that you would need to drop a class, the tuition reimbursement would be:
Fall & Spring Semester
Weeks after 1st class
January Courses
Weeks after 1st class
% Refundable
1 0 80%
2 1 60%
3 2 50%
4 40%
Over 5 3 None
*Registration fees of $50 per class are non-refundable and thus are deducted from the tuition charge before the appropriate computation is made. Tuition for the Counseling Observation courses cannot be refunded due to the limited enrollment for these courses.

If you would like to switch your registration status from credit to audit for a class, you may receive a full refund of the tuition difference if you switch within two weeks of the class start date. If you switch 2-4 weeks into class, you will receive a refund of 50% of the tuition difference. After 5 weeks of class, no refund will be issued.

Incomplete Requests

If extenuating circumstances (unusual and unavoidable circumstances which hinder completion of assigned work) prohibit the student from completing a course on time, a grade of Incomplete may be given. To receive a grade of Incomplete a student must 1) obtain an incomplete form from the Registrar, 2) secure written approval on the form from the professor, and 3) return the form to the DSS who will seek the appropriate faculty committee approval. Petition for the Incomplete must be made by November 30 for the fall semester and by April 30 for the spring semester. At the professor's discretion the grade will or will not be reduced. If approval is granted, the work must be completed within four weeks from the close of examinations; otherwise a grade of Inc/F will be recorded.

If you receive an Inc/F for a course and desire to retake it for credit you will be required to pay the audit price.

Grading Scale

These are graduate level courses and letter grades are awarded based on the quality of your work. The observation classes are pass/fail with an attendance requirement.

Work Load and Late Papers

Most courses require weekly response papers. Response papers are different than a summary of the material you have read in that they require personal application of the material. Some courses have a mid-term exam; all courses have some sort of final evaluation in the form of either an exam or a written paper.

Work that is late or classes that will be missed due to business travel or other travel plans made in advance should be cleared with the professor prior to your absence from class. Absence from class or late papers due to car trouble, sickness, or unavoidable emergencies should be communicated to the academic secretary (kschoch@ccef.org). In some classes (Dynamics, Methods) assignments handed in go through the academic secretary and the grader and are then returned to students in class.

When can I expect my grade?

Most grades are available one month to six weeks after the exams are taken or final papers are handed in. Grades are sent to students by personal letter. Students may pick up final papers and exams from CCEF after the grades are mailed or can provide a self addressed, stamped envelope for them to be returned.

How do I get my certificate?

After you have completed the required courses for a certificate, you will be notified that you have completed the requirements for that level and earned a Certificate. You may choose to have it mailed to you.

Transferring Credits

Transcripts will be sent to other institutions upon request. There is a $5.00 fee per transcript. Submit your request for a transcript to the CCEF Registrar.
