On-Site Program

CCEF's School of Biblical Counseling offers a series of counseling training classes at our home location in Glenside, Pennsylvania. These classes have been organized into three levels of certificates in counseling with some additional courses available for those who are interested.

Introduction to Biblical Counseling Certificate - Level I

This certificate requires the completion of three courses:

  • Dynamics of Biblical Change
  • Counseling in the Local Church
  • Helping Relationships

An Introduction to Biblical Counseling Certificate (Level I) will be awarded to students who complete these three courses.

Advanced Counseling Certificate - Level II

This certificate requries the completion of four courses:

  • Marriage Counseling
  • Counseling Problems and Procedures (listen to Ed Welch discuss this course)
  • Essential Qualities of a Biblical Counselor
  • Counseling Observation (listen to Ed Welch discuss this course)

An Advanced Counseling Certificate (Level II) will be awarded to students who complete all of these courses and have also earned a Level I certificate.


Counseling Apologetics Certificate - Level III

This certificate requires the completion of four courses:

  • Human Personality
  • Theology and Secular Psychology
  • Counseling and Physiology
  • Biblical Interpretation

A Counseling Apologetics Certificate (Level III) will be awarded to students who complete all of these courses and have also earned a Level I Certificate.

Additional Courses

The School of Biblical Counseling also offers the following courses that are not included in the Certificate Program.

  • Human Growth and Development (formerly Counseling Children)
  • Counseling Observation
  • Seminar in Professional Orientation

A few things to know:

  • You must complete a Level I certificate before a Level II or III can be awarded.
  • All classes are taught at the Masters level.
  • Full-time, on-site students can complete Levels I, II and III in one year.
