Many of your questions concerning tuition, course credit and administrative matters are answered on the Academic Policies page. Below are those items unique to the On-Site Program.
Class Locations
All on-site courses are held at Westminster Theological Seminary except Counseling Observation, which is held at CCEF in the observation suite. These two campuses are across the street from each other. For directions to CCEF, please see Directions at the bottom of the CCEF homepage. For directions to Westminster, go to their website: www.wts.edu.
Even though you are a CCEF student it is important that you be able to find your way around and be familiar with the resources available to you on both campuses.
Blackboard
This is the website where information for each class is posted. The CCEF registrar gives you access once you have paid your tuition for a course. The registrar will send to you, by email, the instructions for how to access Blackboard. Once your login information has been set up, you, as the student, are responsible for keeping your email address current. If you go into the personal information tab, please do not remove the "CF" after your last name – this shows up on the roster and grade book and helps the professor identify CCEF students in the class. All announcements are also posted on Blackboard. Please check Blackboard before you come to class each week in case there is a last minute cancellation due to weather, electrical outage, or sickness. Blackboard classes are made unavailable at the end of each semester. You will not be able to locate your final grades here. Final grades will be mailed to you in a letter by the CCEF registrar, Karen Schoch, no earlier than one month after the final exams or final papers are turned in.
Parking at Westminster
Please use spaces that are clearly outlined with painted lines and do not park where there are signs indicating that is off limits or a faculty/staff parking area. Do not park in the drive way behind Machen or in the library side of the parking lot behind the library. If all marked spaces are taken you may park in the grass along the driveway that exits onto Willow Grove Avenue. Please park with your rear bumper facing the drive.
Parking at CCEF
If possible, please park in the new lot behind 1801. If that lot is full, students can park in the lot in front of 1803 – also called Bettler Hall, but please leave at least 2 spots open for counselees. In the evening, you may park on Willow Grove Ave at the curb in front of our campus. Please do not park on Falcon Drive – the side street next to our campus, double-park behind someone in the lots, or in the fire lane beside either building. You may also park at the lower end of the WTS driveway that empties out on Willow Grove Avenue and walk across the street, but please be careful of traffic coming around the curve when you cross the street!
Brute Facts
This is newsletter that comes out every Monday for WTS students. Copies are available in the student mailroom in Van Til Hall. Please take one of these each week as important information about the WTS campus is included (e.g. the fridge has moved, the bookstore has changed its hours, Blackboard updates, wireless pass code notices, etc.)
WTS Library
CCEF students are welcome to fill out an application for a WTS library card from the circulation desk. A library card is needed to access both reserve materials for courses and to check out books. Reserve materials may be checked out for a two hour in-library time limit or for overnight (check out at 10:00 p.m. and due back by 8:00 a.m. the next day). Copies are 10 cents a page. At the end of the semester the CCEF registrar will verify with the WTS library that all the materials have been returned by students. Final Grades and Certificates earned will be issued only if all materials are returned. Information about all Library services can be found on Westminster’s website at www.wts.edu. Please note: As a CCEF student you will not be able to access the "Off-Campus Online Database," but you are welcome to use the online database search functions when on campus.
Wireless Internet service
CCEF students may use the wireless internet service in the WTS classrooms. The password can be obtained from the circulation desk in the library. It changes periodically so check back if you suddenly can’t log on anymore. Please do not use the wireless internet to check email or visit websites during class time, unless specifically permitted or requested by the professor.
Computer Lab
This 16 station lab is located in the basement of the Andreas section of the Westminster library. It is provided to support students in their academic program. Students may occasionally use the lab for personal purposes, unless it prevents others from using the resources for academic work. All users must abide by the guidelines posted in the lab. The lab is open during library hours but may be closed for class purposes, faculty use, training, maintenance or other reasons. Some of the use guidelines are: don’t try to repair, upgrade or perform maintenance on computers, don’t install or upgrade software, don’t tamper with cabling or equipment, or attempt to modify the workstation. If you need assistance, contact the Educational Technologist or the Help Desk. Please review the complete Technology Use Policy at www.wts.edu/students/campuspolicies.htm
Microwaves, Fridge, and Kitchen use
The kitchen in Machen Hall is off limits at all times. It is set aside for the residents of the dorm. However, there are microwaves available in the large lounge and small dining room in Machen Hall and in the student mailroom in Van Til Hall during normal operation hours. Catered lunches ($4 – 5) are available from noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday – Friday during the fall and spring semesters in the foyer of Van Til Hall. Coffee and snacks are available for purchase in the Van Til mailroom. There is a commuter student’s fridge in Van Til Hall next to the soda machines. All food must be labeled. At CCEF there is a microwave as well as coffee, water, and soda available for purchase in the kitchen.
Other CCEF policies
Please make yourself familiar with the information contained on our Frequently Asked Questions and Academic Policies page.
Other Westminster Policies – Westminster has policies on Sexual Harassment, Campus Security, Drug and Alcohol Use, and Romantic Relationships between Faculty and Students. You may obtain copies of these from the WTS website. It is generally accepted that as a CCEF student using the Westminster Campus you are automatically adhering to these policies.
CCEF Annual Conference
Our annual conference takes place in November. This is CCEF’s main platform event of the year and there may be volunteer opportunities available. Please call CCEF Customer Service on 1-800-318-2186 for details.
