In this editorial, John Piper and David Powlison reflect on their experiences with cancer. Both urge the cancer victim to reflect on the spiritual side of dealing with life-threatening illness, instead of basing hope on statistics (e.g., cures and survival rates). They argue that thinking about death can help us deepen our relationships with others and with Christ. They conclude that we have hope even when there is a possibility of death—it is possible to witness to the truth and glory of Christ despite the illness.
