Early Nineteenth Century Events Reflected in the Book of Mormon

Journal of Biblical Counseling 3:1

In this article, H. Michael Marquardt describes the ways that the author of the Book of Mormon incorporated American history in the supposed inspired texts. He then moves into a discussion of major events in American history that are reflected in the writings of the Book of Mormon. Marquardt then turns to a discussion of the archeological evidence for the Book of Mormon. In sum, he concludes that the Book of Mormon is no ancient book of the Americas but is a work composed with the Bible at hand, with “prophecies” of the New World after the fact, and put together with contemporary events and ideas of the time in which it was written.
