Far as the Curse is Found: Human Suffering and the Hope of the Gospel

Journal of Biblical Counseling 22:4

In this article, John Bettler examines John 3:19-21 and argues that Jesus gives three messages: Come to the light (Christ), do the truth (order your life by Christ’s truth) and expose the works of God (the gospel) in your life. Bettler maintains that truth is a Person who comes into our lives and says, ‘I have made you for myself.’ He concludes that the gospel replaces our sin and suffering with the righteousness of Christ. The closer you get to the light, the closer you see the gospel, the closer you see the wonderful works of God in your midst.
