Part 3 of a 5 part series. In this article, John Bettler continues his development of a biblical concept of self-image. Bettler begins his discussion with an examination of Luke 9:23-27, Romans 6 and 12, Philippians 2 and Galatians 6. Bettler expands on the cost of following Christ and the idea of crucifying one’s flesh. He concludes his article with a brief discussion about the over-emphasis on self in the secular literature and how secular counselors are beginning to rethinking the emphasis on self.
