In this article, Ron Lutz examines Psalm 96. He argues that the truth this Psalm expresses is exactly what children of God of any age most need. Why are we here? What is the only true sanity and maturity? Lutz maintains that Psalm 96 invites us to know God and to worship Him instead of false gods created in our own hearts. It exhorts us to sing a new song to the Lord, to each other, and to the nations. In our thinking and in our worship we must contrast the greatness and majesty of our God with the phoniness of the idols of the world. Lutz concludes that only then will we move away from our self-occupation and learn to love others.
