In this article, Sandra Simons examines the claim that certain food additives, synthetic colors and flavors, and salicylates cause hyperactivity in children. Simons summarizes the Feingold hypothesis (that 50-80% of hyperactivity is caused by artificial food colors) and studies done to investigate its validity.
