The Book of Daniel and the Godly Counselor

Part 1 of a 2 part series. In this article, George Schwab argues that Daniel was a paradigmatic godly counselor, and the book of Daniel abounds with godly counsel. Schwab maintains that Daniel deals with the confusing world of human experience by focusing on the Kingdom of God. He Daniel’s pagan education, and its relationship to fidelity to the Lord. Schwab concludes with three case studies from the book of Daniel: Nebuchadnezzar “until he was humbled he did not give up his ‘heart idol'”), Belshazzar (“Daniel confronted the king’s idolatry and pride”), and Daniel (“His counselor told Daniel that he was ‘highly esteemed,’ and to ‘fear not.'”).
