In this article, Ken Sande argues for churches to have a more hands-on approach in dealing with members seeking divorce. Sande discusses both “formative” and “corrective” church discipline as means to teach and hold people accountable to God’s Word in working through issues in their marriage. Sande concludes that the obedient and loving exercise of church discipline in broken marriages can give people the motivation and help they need to slow down, count the cost, remember God’s promises and look to Him and not to a judge to solve their marital problems.
