mission & genre

The mission of the JBC is to develop clear thinking and effective practice in biblical counseling. We seek to do this through publishing articles that faithfully bring the God of truth, mercy, and power to the issues that face the pastoral ministries of counseling and discipleship.

Our genre is practical theology. We try to use language that is accessible, clear, nontechnical, and free from jargon. If you are not a JBC subscriber, we suggest you read a couple of recent articles to get a feel for what we mean.

why publish in the jbc?

The JBC has a long history of producing biblically faithful and practical articles. In that time, we have established a wide-ranging audience of over 6,000 subscribers from over twenty countries. Our readers include counselors, pastors, lay leaders, students, and those interested in coming alongside others facing difficulty.

Our editorial team consists of theologically trained and counseling-focused individuals who are passionate about helping authors increase their acuity of thought, balance, and creativity in writing about counseling. The resulting articles are used in university courses, counseling training centers, pastoral care teams, discipleship groups, and many other settings.
