Presented byPhilip Monroe
Individuals with addictions present unique challenges to counselors. This elective will explain counseling goals and practical strategies, common to a wide variety of problems associated with addictive behaviors, attitudes, and motivations. In this audio talk, Monroe has two goals: (1) To consider practical methods to help those struggling with addictions to grow in personal insight and to find a way of escape from their addiction (1 Cor 10:13), and (2) To learn how to tailor counseling to the needs, the character, and the place a person is when they come for counseling. Monroe grounds his approach on the foundational belief that all addictions have a bodily, a spiritual, and a will problem attached to them.
