Angry Teens: Start with Your Own Heart

Journal of Biblical Counseling 25:1

In this article, Paul Tripp argues to change someone else’s behavior, you must first change your own. He suggests that parents first identify three faces of anger: upward anger (anger at God), inward anger (anger at people and situations), and outward anger (anger at the world). A biblical response to teen anger requires humility (admitting helplessness), examining your own heart. Tripp concludes that anger can provide the opportunity for ministry and reflect God’s mercy to us as sinners.
