In this article, Marshall Hawkins discusses the ‘engagement’ interpretation of the exception clause of Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19:9. Hawkins identifies syntactical problems and logical problems in the approach. He concludes that the traditional Protestant position on the issue is correct.
