Gaining an Accurate Self-Image – Part IV: Denying Self (Part 4)

Journal of Biblical Counseling 7:3

Part 4 of a 5 part series. In this article, John Bettler continues his development of a biblical concept of self-image. Bettler begins by examining Romans 6 and 12, Galatians 3 and Philippians 2 to develop a biblical framework for self-image. He offers helpful guidance for counselors in working with people who have a distorted self-image. Bettler concludes by drawing two principles on self-image from Romans 6: You must not dwell on past sin because you are dead in Christ and you must put on righteousness because you are alive in Christ. Part 1 is in JPP 6:4; Part 2 in JPP 7:1; Part 3 in JPP 7:2; Part 4 in JPP 7:3; Part 5 in JPP 7:4 and conclusion in JPP 8:2.
