In this article, Dean Ulrich presents a sermon in which he argues that the seemingly endless list of place names in Joshua 15-19 address crucial questions and illustrate central truths. First, God is in the mundane. The promises of God play out in the mundane aspects of the world in which you live. Second, God is over the mundane. People did not receive their inheritance by personal preference, but by God’s decision. Third, God is good in the mundane. Nobody missed out. Ulrich concludes that, in the future, God will continue to draw and redraw the boundary lines the way that He wants, but He wants you to be faithful in the boundary lines that He has drawn now.
