The Family Covenant Model, Part 1: A Biblical Model of the Family

Journal of Biblical Counseling 15:2

Part 1 of a 3 part series. In this article, Paul Randolph describes and critiques three Christian approaches to family life: The integration of secular theory; High-flown theology of God’s fatherhood; and the search for specific biblical principles as if the Bible were an encyclopedia of parenting. Randolph argues for using the whole Scripture to describe how God the father practically raises His children. He concludes that the covenant God forms with His people provides the fundamental elements every family needs. Part 1 is in JBC 15:2, Part 2 in JBC 15:3 and Part 3 in JBC 16:1.
