In this article, Skip Ryan presents a sermon on marriage from Ephesians 5:21-33. Ryan argues that marriage problems are not private matters and so the Bible addresses them publicly. He gives three truths about a wife’s submission: The Lord is in the equation; It is not degrading and She allows her husband to lead. He continues with three truths about a husband’s love: He gives special attention to his wife; He purifies her with spiritual growth and He treats her as an extension of himself. Ryan concludes that marriage is a window through which the world might look and see a picture of the way in which Jesus Christ loves the church and a way in which the church submits to its King and Savior.
